Afternoon Art
Yesterday afternoon i went to Australian Galleries, on Derby street which is just off Smith. There was an exhibition showing by Melbourne based artist, Geoffrey Ricardo. There works of multiple subjects and mediums including paint and sculpture but predominately, prints. His work was absolutely beautiful and awe striking. I'd seriously recommend that anyone who can goes and checks this out, you wont be disappointed.
note: this sculpture here, is positively huge! and it's all made from his recycled copper plates!
"Take some more tea" ~ "I've had nothing yet, so I can't take more"
I am admittedly one of those very annoying Alice in Wonderland fanatics who tries very hard to quote their favourite book as much as possible and sometimes goes into rants of the songs and poetry, much to the annoyance of those around me. It is a habit of which perform badly, and must either perfect my quotes or give up. Luckily for my darling friends, I don't believe in giving up.
This year I have decided to do something which almost every man and his dog have done before me, have an Alice in Wonderland tea party. Very strangely i'v all seemed to have socialised with people who put on a face of most dismay at the mention of such a wondrous soiree. Sick. But know i am at a fabulous point in my life where my friends are more glorious than imaginable and excited at the concept!
So let the preparations begin! yesterday i bought the first peice of my wonderland puzzle. but cannot yet reveal it. I'll update this blog with information a day after my friends have received it. Oh and it's to be a dress-up party, of course.

oh la la ~ Luella!
The new luella collection featured a lovely and most welcome return of colour and i would pledge my left kidney to miss. bartley to get my hands on a piece of that daintiness. The last one down there pleasantly reminds me very much of a vovo, you know those biscuits which are nothing but pink marshmellowy coconutty goodness... mmmm

Weekends are a bit like rainbows...
This weekend has been so fantastic!
firstly on friday me and the friends went to see (500) days of summer, which was so good! (as expected) Mildly depressing but V good regardless. Zooey Deschanel was beautiful of course, in appearance only may i add. My favourite scene in the movie was strangely(and the sister agrees) the very beginning when it's being described how as a girl the only thing summer loved was her long black hair and cutting it off. Worst part of the film was the overload of pop culture references. But despite that it was a great film with a awesome soundtrack.
yesterday on Saturday, i saw billy twinkle. it was amazing!!! Basically it was a one-man marionette show by Ronnie Burkett about his life as a puppeteer. As i've been drawing up plans this last month to create my own(though porcelain) marionettes it was very inspiring.
And lastly today, on a pleasent sunday afternoon, me and my mother saw Valentino: The Last Emperor. I definately came out of the cinema with a renewed love and respect of Valentino and fashion. and to top it off when i was hunting for Lula, mother surprised me with a pair of new Peter Alexander pj's! yip it was a truly splendid weekend...

i wish i wish...
I would give and arm and a leg to own this painting, or any of Peter Booth's work for that matter, life goal. I remember very vividly seeing his work at the NGV for the first time, I think I was eleven, and I was completely blown away. I kept looking at each painting from the side and each time being shocked at how thickly the paint was laid on, he became my favourite artist right there and then and has been ever since, nothing could compare...♥
